The central Ukrainian city of Uman will host the festive events on the occasion of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. This time, the celebrations will fall on September 21 and 22.

According to press service of Ukraine’s national police, there will be more than 30,000 guests from at least 20 countries.  Serhiy Knyaziev, the head of the National Police, said that about 500 policemen and National Guard fighters will jointly maintain public security during the celebrations.  At least 15 Israeli policemen will also be guarding the places of festivities in Uman.

According to Knyaziev, ‘over the last several years, Ukrainian citizens have been more and more loyal and open to foreigners’. ‘No considerable violations of public order were reported last year; besides, during these celebrations, local residents and pilgrims from Israel tightly cooperate,’ the official said.

Last year, 31,000 people came to Uman for celebration of Rosh Hashanah.
