Turkish Airlines and Pegasus cancel 301 of their domestic and international flights in the two airports of Istanbul. The reason is the worst snowfall in eight years that the city faces now; the depth of snow cover reached 120 cm in certain places across the city. Hurriyet Daily News wrote this on Monday, January 9.
The flights were cancelled in Ataturk and Sabiha Gokcen airports; Turkish Airlines said they cancelled 227 flights, and Pegasus called off 74. Besides, vessel traffic across Bosphorus strait is closed, too.
Road traffic across Istanbul is restricted, some roads are closed; weather forecasts say that such harsh conditions will be observed until January 11.
