More than 250 Ukrainian settlements were affected by major floods. 7,500 houses were flooded, roads and bridges were destroyed. This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmygal on Facebook.
"This week, Western Ukraine was swept by massive floods. As a result of bad weather, more than 250 settlements in five regions were affected," the prime minister wrote.
According to him, the Ivano-Frankivsk region suffered the most.
Shmygal also noted that the government has already allocated more than UAH 700 million (26 million USD) to overcome the effects of the weather, and these funds are not the last.
On June 25, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine turned to partner states, NATO, and the European Union with a request for help in overcoming the effects of floods in the western regions.
In turn, the European Union has activated the civil protection mechanism to meet the needs of Ukraine in overcoming the effects of floods.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Hungary Peter Szijjártó offered to send TISZA multinational engineering battalion to help Ukraine after a natural disaster. This was announced by the Foreign Minister on Facebook.
“Due to the bad weather in some parts of Ukraine, floods have occurred in recent days. We have offered our help to our neighbors for successful protection and recovery. Hungarian soldiers of the TISZA multinational technical battalion, which specializes in disaster management, are ready to go to a certain place if Ukrainian authorities will require it," the minister said.
