Over 200 km of roads, 95 bridges in western Ukraine in ruins after floods

As of July 17, there are no inundated villages, basements and residential yards in the territory of the western regions as the Emergency Service of Ukraine reported.

It is specified that 202.4 km of the roads in Ivano-Frankivsk and Chernivtsi region are destroyed. Besides, 95 bridges are destroyed in the mentioned regions and in Lviv region.

Moreover, 549 km of the roads and 213 bridges are damaged in Ivano-Frankivsk and Chernivtsi regions.

The employees of the Emergency Service rescued 478 people, evacuated 721, resettled 1,324. 2,565 people were transferred through the flooded parts of roads.

During 24 hours, 30 cubic meters were pumped out from six wells; 270 meters of the coast were strengthened, 300 meters of riverbeds and 370 meters of roads were cleaned in Ivano-Frankivsk region.

Totally, 34 people and 17 units of equipment involved in the works.

As we reported, the European Union activated the Civil Protection Mechanism to meet the needs of Ukraine in overcoming the effects of floods.

On June 23, the first consequences of the bad weather and heavy rains were reported in Ivano-Frankivsk region.

Later, Ukraine's State Emergency Service announced red alert in Ivano-Frankivsk and Chernivtsi regions.

The flood situation was complicated in Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi, Lviv, Zakarpattia and Ternopil regions. Three people died.
