The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) did not allow the song of the participant from Belarus - Galasy ZMesta band to participate in the Eurovision - 2021.
A statement published on eurovision.tv said that the content of the song "I will teach you" puts into question the non-political nature of the competition.
“As part of the regular procedure for all songs submitted to compete in the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC), the EBU has carefully scrutinized the Belarusian song, Ya Nauchu Tebya (I’ll Teach You) by Galasy ZMesta to ensure it complies with the rules of the competition," the message says.
The Eurovision organizer invited Belarus to change the song or send another one to the contest, which will comply with its rules. Otherwise, the country will be excluded from the competition.
Earlier it was reported that Belarus would be represented at Eurovision-2021 by the band Galasy ZMesta. The band participanted in auto rallies in support of Lukashenko. In their songs, the band slams the Belarusian opposition and protests.
Belarusian Culture Solidarity Foundation wrote a letter to the EBU asking to exclude National State Television and Radio Company of Belarus from membership in the organization and, as a result, from participation in Eurovision-2021.
