In the Irish capital Dublin, participants in a mass protest against quarantine restrictions fought with the police, Deutsche Welle reports.
The rally was attended by several hundred people. Three police officers were injured during clashes between protesters and law enforcement officers. Law enforcement officers detained 20 demonstrators.
As a result of quarantine, many enterprises have not been working in the country for almost a year. In December, the Irish government decided to further tighten the current quarantine restrictions. On February 24, the authorities extended the lockdown for another six weeks.
At the moment, in Ireland, with a population of almost 5 million, about 219 000 citizens have contracted the coronavirus, more than 4 000 people have died from this disease.
Almost 255 000 people received the first dose of the vaccine, and 136 400 received both required vaccinations.
