An operation to lift the Delfi tanker that sank in November has begun in Odesa, as local news agency Dumskaya reports.

It is noted that work on pumping the pontoons has been underway since 06:00.

"Boats are constantly running between the beach and Delfi, delivering divers to the place of work. Tugs have approached a distance of about 100 meters, and ropes are put on them to pull the tanker to set on the keel," the message says.

“The employees of the State Environmental Inspectorate, taking a sample of water near the sunken vessel, detected the content of the oil products at the level 0.25 mg/dm3, while the norm is 0.05 mg/dm3,” Malyovany reported.

Earlier, the Commission on Environmental Safety and Emergency Situations decided that the Delfi tanker should be removed from the Black Sea by July 20.
