World-famous opera singer Montserrat Caballe died aged 85, La Vanguardia reports this with a reference to the doctors.  

She died at the Hospital of Sant Pau on Saturday morning, where she was hospitalized in the middle of September.

It was mentioned that the singer was ill for a long time and has had several surgeries in recent years that made it impossible to return to the stage. 

It should be noted that yet before the age of 80, Montserrat Caballe continued to travel the world, giving concerts with her daughter Montserrat Marti. 

The farewell with the diva will take place on October 8.

Montserrat Caballe was born on April 12, 1933, in Barcelona. 

In 1965, she became a famous Spanish opera singer, currently considered the greatest soprano of our time. Her widest range of voice, exceptional matchless skill and bright temperament conquered the main scenes of the leading theaters of the planet. She was the winner of various awards, and the Ambassador of the World and the Ambassador of Good Will of UNESCO.
