Omelyan: More Ukrainians purchase electric cars

On an average day, 20 Ukrainians buy an electric car

Ukrainians bought one thousand electric cars over the last half year. Volodymyr Omelyan, the Minister of Infrastructure claimed this on his page on Facebook.

According to him, from January through June of 2018, Ukrainians bought three thousand 596 electric cars against two thousand 532 cars in 2017.

Thus, on an average day, 20 Ukrainians buy an electric car.

Reportedly, the Ukrainian Parliament lifted the value-added tax on the import of electric cars to Ukraine during the voting for changes to the Tax Code.

Ukraine took the 5th place in the world rating where the use of electric cars is developing. Norway, Sweden, Iceland, and China are among the five leaders. Every country was assessed by several standards in particular by the level of governmental support of the ecological vehicle, by the pace of its development in the country and dynamics of electric cars on the automobile market of the country. Such countries like the Netherlands, France, South Korea, the USA and Japan took the remaining places.

It is known that electric cars are gaining population in Ukraine over the last years. Nissan Leaf, Renault Fluence, and Tesla Model S are the most popular electric cars. The first electric bus was released in Lviv on the local plant called Electron in 2016. Also, the National Police of Ukraine is planning to fully swap to the electric cars.
