An emergency was declared in Chernivtsi region (western Ukraine) due to cases of coronavirus in the region. The chairman of the Chernivtsi Regional State Administration Serhiy Osadchuk said so in a video message posted on Facebook.
According to him, restrictive measures will be in force from March 14 to April 3.
In particular, the chairman of the region asks local residents to stay at home.
"As you know, we have a second confirmed case of infection in our region ... This prompts and gives us reason to introduce an emergency in the Chernivtsi region tomorrow, March 14 ... We can learn from the mistakes of others, we must apply the current regulatory framework in Ukraine and take responsible steps to stop the spread,” – Osadchuk noted
All markets, shopping centers and hypermarkets are closed in the region, with the exception of only food sectors.
As we reported before, Head of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Dmytro Razumkov said that since March 17, Ukraine will completely block air traffic due to the coronavirus pandemic.
He added that the National Security and Defence Council prepared a list of preventive measures that will be implemented in the near future. It is also noted that the Verkhovna Rada will continue to work.
