The personnel of State Security Service of Ukraine jointly with the Prosecutor’s office exposed one of the heads of Odesa Customs of the State Fiscal Service on systematic bribes. Andriy Lysenko, Spokesperson of the Prosecutor General's office of Ukraine claimed this on Facebook.
The law enforcement officers discovered a collection of paintings and money during the search of the place of the customs officer.
About a thousand coins of different denominations and metals dating from the XVII-XX centuries, almost 70 paintings, icons and $65 thousand were seized from the attic.
Currently, under the investigation under Art. 366-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine on the fact of declaring unreliable information, data on possible evasion from the submission of information on the acquisition of these values are being checked.
‘On September 18, the investigators of the Prosecutor’s office jointly with the personnel of the Office of SBU in Odesa region and the General Directorate of the internal security of the SFS exposed customs officials during the reception of a bribe,’ the Prosecutor General’s office claimed.
The head of one of the offices of the Odessa Customs together with the chief state inspector demanded and received three thousand USD of unlawful benefit from the representative of the private enterprise.
‘For this unlawful benefit, the customs officers promised to solve the problem with the opening and exploitation of the customs’ warehouse of temporary storage with the area of more than 350 square meters, based in one of the districts of Odesa region,’ Lysenko added.
