As of September, 25,196 unemployed people officially registered in Kyiv. During the quarantine, the number of unemployed increased thrice as Kyiv City Employment Centre reported.
“Since the beginning of the year, the capital employment service, 32,600 people were registered, particularly, from March 12 up to September 9, when the government imposed the quarantine, due to the spread of the coronavirus – 28,200. At the beginning of September, 25,196 unemployed were registered at the service – 3.1 more than on the same date last year (8,046),” the message said.
It is noted that the peak of the load was in April when 9,400 unemployed were registered. Meanwhile, only 3,000 unemployed were registered in August.
The service noted that the volumes of employment increased as for today: from 305 people were provided with a job in April; from 1,432 in August.
“Totally, 8,800 citizens were employed since the beginning of the year, including 6,100 during the lockdown,” the message said.
As we reported, since the beginning of the quarantine (March 12, 2020) the status of unemployed was provided to 444,400 Ukrainians. As of August 31, the total amount of unemployed made 477,700 citizens and it is by 73% more than on the same date in 2019.
