“As of February 26, four citizens of Ukraine with diagnosed Covid-19 were hospitalized to medical facilities of Tokyo. Currently, the state of our fellow countrymen is satisfactory. The consul keeps in touch with hospitalized Ukrainians,” the message said.
The ministry noted that other citizens of Ukraine continue to stay at Diamond Princess liner.
According to Ukraine’s Embassy to Japan, the local doctors held necessary tests before Ukrainians left the board of the cruise liner. The results of the analyses are unknown yet.
“Our countrymen who will get positive results of the tests will be hospitalized to local medical facilities, with negative results – the quarantine will be extended,” the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine noted.
Besides, the ministry reported that Ukraine’s Embassy to Japan conducted a survey of all Ukrainians whether they want to be repatriated to Ukraine. According to the consulate, 24 out of 25 interviewed Ukrainians (the attempt to establish contact with one Ukrainian failed) did not express the intention to return to Ukraine in the next days and plan to stay in quarantine in Japan.
“The Embassy of Ukraine to Japan stay in touch with the citizens of Ukraine who stay at the board of the liner and in the hospitals; they stay in constant contact with all involved services, particularly, to solve possible issues of our countrymen,” the message said.
As we reported, more than two dozen Ukrainians aboard the Diamond Princess cruise liner are still not willing to be evacuated to their homeland.
