During the last seven days, Ukrainian medics detected a disturbingly growing number of patients with pneumonia. The number made 22,400 new cases over one week. Maksym Stepanov, the Healthcare Minister reported that at a briefing in Kyiv on October 12.

The number of new cases exceeded the maximum so far, which was observed over one week in July (July 13-19); then, the total number of new cases made 4,234, the official said. Thus, the new maximum number of cases is five times the old one.

As of October 12, 265,454 cases of coronavirus infection were recorded in Ukraine. Over the past 24 hours, 4,420 people have been diagnosed with the disease. This was reported on the website of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC).

A total of 5,015 people (+43) have already died in the country as a result of complications caused by the disease, but 114,410 patients have managed to recover.

As we reported, Kyiv, Odesa, and Mariupol are preparing to deploy additional large hospitals for patients with Covid-19 in case of an overload of hospitals in the first and second waves of the coronavirus epidemic.
