The total number of suspected cases of cholera exceeds 200 thousand in Yemen, BBC reports. 1300 people in the country have died from cholera, 25% among them are children.
Statement by Unicef and the World Health Organization (WHO) says that Yemen is now facing the worst cholera outbreak in the world in recent years.
UN reported 51 cholera deaths in mid-May.
"In just two months, cholera has spread to almost every governorate of this war-torn country," the message reads.
The number of cases continues to rise. According to UN, the number of affected persons will reach 300 thousand by the end of August.
According to WHO, 5 thousand new cases are registered in Yemen every day.
