Not all Kyiv schools to switch to remote education, - mayor

Kyiv city hall is not going to order a switch to remote education in all schools. Vitaliy Klitschko, the mayor said so during the briefing; he himself stays on self-isolation, as he contracted Covid-19

"Let me stress this: no one is going to switch all schools to remore education. Our main objective is to do everything for the safety of education process. By the way, the WHO experts claim that closign schools does not considerably affect the combat against the spread of coronavirus. Fo example, in France, where they imposed strict quarantine today again, they don't close schools and kindergartens - unlike they did during the first wave of the pandemic", Klitschko said.

The mayor added that 428 schools of Kyiv returned to direct education mode. Eight schools were closed for quarantine. 436 classes in 133 schools are on remote education, as school students and teachers contracted the disease.

Kyiv city hall will need USD 8.7 million to deploy the temporary hospitals in Palace of Sport and exhibition centres. Maksym Stepanov, the Healthcare Minister said so as quoted by Interfax-Ukraine news agency.

"We got a word from the authority in Kyiv about the location of temporary mobile hospitals - it could be either the Exhibition Centre or the Palace of Sport. They counted it would take 245 million hryvnyas", Stepanov said. 

According to him, temporary mobile hospitals will allow to increase the hospital bed capacity in Kyiv by 500 beds; 1,200 medical staff is necessary to service the treatment procedure in such hospitals.
