Abiy Ahmed Ali, the Prime Minister of Ethiopia is about to get the Nobel Peace Prize 2019. Norwegian Nobel Committee made the respective announcement on the special press conference in Oslo on October 11.

The authority "has decided to award the Nobel Peace Prize for 2019 to Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali for his efforts to achieve peace and international cooperation, and in particular for his decisive initiative to resolve the border conflict with neighbouring Eritrea", as the statement on the Committee's website says.

The prize "is also meant to recognise all the stakeholders working for peace and reconciliation in Ethiopia and in the East and Northeast African regions", the Committee stated.
