No measles epidemic in Ukraine, - Ministry of Healthcare

Ukraine's Acting Minister encourages all the Ukrainians to get vaccinated

The measles epidemic will not be declared in Ukraine. Acting Minister of Healthcare of Ukraine Ulana Suprun said this, as reported by UNIAN.

“We will not declare measles outbreak, as these would be just words, they do not matter. Actually, much more important is to spread the vaccination opportunities and the availability of the vaccine,” Suprun reported.

The acting healthcare minister also said that only vaccine can overcome measles. She implores all the Ukrainians to get vaccinated in order to lower the number of people suffering from measles and to avoid the lethal cases.

According to the Public Health Center, 3,450 people, including 1,502 adults, and 1,948 children got sick with measles during the third week of 2019. In 2018, measles took 16 lives. 

Earlier, the outbreak of measles was spotted among the personnel of the National Guard of Ukraine, assigned to Vinnytsia military unit.
