As of June 15, there are currently no areas in Ukraine that could be possibly endangered with drought. The current weather conditions are superb for development of spring cereal crops. Tetyana Adamenko, the director of agrometeorological department of Hydrometeorological Centre of Ukraine said so as quoted by Interfax-Ukraine news agency.
"Apart from local problems like hail or floods, the situation is quite fine; the ground has a great humidity reserve. There are practically no areas that could be possibly affected by a threat, which is quite unusual for Ukraine during the last decade", Adamenko said.
However, according to her, currently, it is too soon to estimate the influence of weather conditions on the crop yield of cereal crops since their vegetation process just began.
Adamenko also added that the period of intense rains in Ukraine (especially those strong rains observed in southern and southeastern regions) is almost over. On June 17-19, weather reporters will observe the change of weather processes; high air temperatures will be stable during both day time and night time.
