At present, nine Ukrainian battalions are already compatible with the troops of NATO countries. This was stated in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine, by the chief of the General Staff of Ukrainian Armed Forces Victor Muzhenko.
"Preparation of battalions which began in 2015, is continuing with the help of foreign specialists. Today in Ukraine there are instructors and military personnel from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Poland ... And we have today reached the appropriate compatibility at least for those nine battalions that have already been trained, "he said.
Muzhenko explained that the joint training of troops are being conducted with units of mechanized, highly mobile-landing troops and the personnel of special-purpose units.
"In addition, NATO standards are used as a basis, which are adapted to our conditions in the light of the experience we have gained during the hostilities, and, by the way, NATO military personnel are already making changes and adjustments to their standards in the light of our experience. That is not just blind copying, but a creative approach to working out the relevant standards taking into account the acquired combat experience, "the chief of the General Staff stressed.
