NewsOne TV channel team appealed to High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini due to the attack on the freedom of speech and attempts to impose censorship in Ukraine.

“Thus, on September 5, another session of the National Council on TV and Radio Broadcasting took place during which the destiny of the TV channel was decided. During the consideration of the issue, the regulator made a decision to file the appeal to the court, which should decide whether to withdraw the license of NewsOne or no,” the message said.

The TV channel is accused of spread of “the language of hostility” in Ukraine and incitement of hatred in the society. These accusations are based on the statement of the guests of NewsOne, not hosts or journalists.

“It is significant that the decision of the National Council is based on the numerous breaches of law, that also took place during the realization of an unplanned audit of the TV channel. The National Council has cynically shown their neglect of legal procedures and has started to pressure our workers in order to destroy the independent TV channel. Probably, getting indulgence for old sins from new government is more important, than adhering to the democratically principles and defending the rule of law,” the TV channel noted.

Earlier NewsOne appealed to Head of European Council Donald Tusk due to the decision of the National Council.
