The American newspaper The New York Times on Sunday, May 24, in its latest issue dedicated the front page to the victims of the coronavirus, publishing a surname list of thousands of deaths in the United States. The list of victims is also published on the newspaper’s website.
The printed version of the publication was published under the heading: "The number of victims is approaching 100 thousand, countless losses."
"These are not just names on the list, they were one of us," the publication’s subtitle says.
On the front page published the names of thousands of coronavirus victims with short obituaries about them (age, place of residence, occupation). The list continues on page 22.
"When the country approaches a gloomy 100,000 deaths due to the virus, the New York Times studied obituaries and reports of deaths. These thousand people are only 1% of the list of deaths," the publication said.
