The air temperature in Kyiv broke another record on February 2. This Sunday's 10.7 degrees above zero is 1.4 higher than the previous maximum temperature for this day observed in 2002. The press office of the Central Geophysical Observatory reported that on Monday. 

Thanks to that maximum temperature, the average daily temperature on February 2 made 7.9 degrees above zero, which is 1.6 degrees higher than the previous record of air temperature, which also held since 2002. In terms of climatic norms, such temperature is typical for the first decade of April.

The average temperature in January in Kyiv made 0.8 degrees above zero. That's 6.4 degrees higher than the climatic norm. Thus, January 2020 became the second warmest month since 1881 (the first place goes to January 2007).

Previously, we reported that 2019 appeared to be the warmest year in Kyiv since 1881. The average annual temperature in this city made +10.6 degrees by Celsius, which is 2.9 higher than the climate normal. The Central Geophysical Observatory reported that on January 2. That year's temperature records were hit 36 times; in June alone, the number of new records made 11.
