A new landing strip will be constructed in Boryspil International Airport. The project is to be implemented by 2022. Pavlo Ryabikin, the Director-General of the enterprise shared this information with RBC-Ukraine in an interview.
According to him, this month, technical and economic reasoning of the initiative will be provided. The construction details will be released later. Ryabikin added that the Chinese investors were ready to involve a credit in China's Eximbank. The construction works will cost 280-300 million U.S. dollars, the official said.
'The new landing strip will be placed next to the F Terminal; it is supposed to replace the strip built in the USSR. The latter will serve as the technological ground, but it will be able to take in the aircraft in case of an emergency landing. Besides, the airport will continue using the strip next to the D Terminal. Thus, we will have two active strips and one inactive', he said.
The project will be developed in 2019, and the construction works are to take two or three years.
The airport currently negotiates with the European structures, including the EBRD, which also could consider funding the project.
