“Unfortunately, we see that the wave has already started. Its peak, I suppose, will occur in September and October but a daily increase in the number of the new infected and new lethal cases already takes place and we understand that this wave is inevitable. We still can do something to mitigate it but it is the fact, unfortunately, that it is tied with the Delta strain,” the medic said.
According to him, the disadvantage of the vaccination campaign in Ukraine is the coverage with the vaccines, not the group of risks but everyone who wishes. All countries that achieved success in the fight against the coronavirus, have firstly vaccinated the most vulnerable categories of people – elder, chronically ill, and then younger people.
Earlier, Chief Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine Ihor Kuzin stated that the new outbreak of coronavirus infection is expected in autumn; however, it can take place earlier. Thus, the Chief Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine noted that the immunization should take place quickly to enable the majority of the population to get at least one dose. Besides, Kuzin noted the importance of basic anti-epidemic events – personal hygiene, social distance, and face mask requirement.
