12,872 cases of coronavirus infection were confirmed in the UK on Saturday, which is a new anti-record. This is confirmed by the data published on the government website, Reuters reports.

According to the UK authorities, the increase in the number of infected people almost doubled due to the fact that some cases of infection from the period between 24 September and 1 October were not counted due to technical problems that have already been resolved.

As it was reported earlier, mass protest against quarantine restrictions due to the Covid-19 took place in London on September 26. It gathered several thousand people in Trafalgar Square. The protesters did not observe social distance and most of them were without masks.
