The world has reported a record increase in the number of coronavirus cases - more than 200,000 cases have been diagnosed over the last 24 hours. This is evidenced by data provided by Worldometers website.

As of the morning of July 2, 10.8 million people in the world were infected with Covid-19 (+210,000 people per day). Since the beginning of the pandemic, 519 thousand people have died from coronavirus, 6.3 million - have recovered.

USA, Brazil and Russia are the leaders in terms of the Covid-19 incidence. 889 new cases have been observed in Ukraine over the last 24 hours.

As we reported earlier, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director-general of the World Health Organization, stated that the coronavirus pandemic was accelerating around the world as a number of countries had decided to reopen their economies.

Although many countries have made some progress, globally, the pandemic is actually speeding up. We all want this to be over. We all want to get on with our lives, but the hard reality is that this is not even close to being over,” he said.
