The Netherlands launched a new investigation into the crash of Malaysian flight MH17 over Donbas in 2014. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevgen Yenin said this in a comment to RBC-Ukraine.

He noted that on July 17, Russian media spread a fake about the alleged start of a new investigation against Ukraine to find out why Kyiv did not close the airspace over Donbas after the outbreak of hostilities.

Yenin called this information Russian propaganda and noted that the investigation concerns precisely Russia's actions on the eve of the disaster.

Russia, both then and now, cannot explain why it closed its airspace near the Ukrainian-Russian border in the Donbas region from 00:00 on July 17, 2014. It was after the Russian BUK crossed the border a few hours before the downing with this "Buk" of the Malaysian Boeing,”  Yenin explained.

As we reported before, the world marks the sixth anniversary of downing of Boeing 777, the passenger aircraft of Malaysian Airlines, known as flight MH17.

The plane was destroyed while performing a regular flight from the Netherlands to Malaysia in July 2014. The tragedy took place in the sky over the militant-held section of the Donetsk region, not far from Snizhne town. All 298 people aboard deceased; most of the victims, 196, were Dutch, but there were citizens of another nine countries as well.
