Almost 250 children die of cancer in Ukraine every year. This was announced by First Deputy Minister of Health of Ukraine Iryna Sadoviak during a briefing.
"Every year about 300,000 children are diagnosed with cancer worldwide. In Ukraine, according to the National Cancer Registry, a thousand new cases are diagnosed annually, and, unfortunately, every year we lose about 250 children," said Sadoviak.
According to the Deputy Minister, 6,500 children are currently diagnosed with cancer in Ukraine.
As we reported earlier, the Health Ministry has developed a national strategy for the control of cancer diseases until 2030.
The ministry plans to fully implement it by 2030. However, there are points that the ministry intends to introduce this year:
- update current treatment standards;
- to create together with public organizations a communication plan for the prevention of cancer;
- to expand the access of cancer patients to innovative medicines;
- ensure access to palliative care services at all levels of medical care in all regions of the country.
