Nearly 18,000 patients currently hospitalized with Covid-19 in Ukraine, - minister

About 18,000 Ukrainians are hospitalized with coronavirus at this point. This was stated by Health Minister Maksym Stepanov during a briefing.

"In the first week of December, we had more than 28,000 people in our hospitals, today we have 17,911 patients who are hospitalized with a severe or moderate course of the disease, respectively," he noted.

Also, according to the official, last week Ukraine observed 25,500 cases of Covid-19, which is less than the week before last (27,157).

As we reported earlier, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated that Ukraine would be included in the first queue of the vaccine supply program (COVAX).

"Ukraine is among these countries, which will be included in the first wave of deployment of COVAX initiative, so as to vaccinate medical workers, elderly people and those in direct contact with patients with Covid-19," WHO Director-General said.

He also added that the organization would keep assisting Ukraine in order to stop the spread of the disease and to save lives.
