It is assessed that almost 1 million 300 thousand people are infected with hepatitis C in Ukraine. As of now, over 87 thousand patients are under medical supervision. This was announced by Minister of Health Maksym Stepanov during a briefing that was broadcasted by 112 Ukraine TV channel.

"According to estimates, there are almost 1.3 million people in Ukraine who are infected with hepatitis C. 87,269 of them are under medical supervision. That is 6.5% of people who know that they are infected with this virus,” the minister stated.

Stepanov also noted that, according to the WHO, only 9% of people with chronic hepatitis B virus knew about their diagnosis.

As we reported earlier, as of July 28, 66,575 cases of the coronavirus infection were registered in Ukraine. 919 people have been diagnosed with the virus over the last 24 hours.

36,744 patients have managed to recover.

It is worth noting that most cases were recorded in the Lviv region - 147, in the city of Kyiv - 110 and in the Ivano-Frankivsk region - 103.
