A special laboratory of the Bundeswehr has conducted a toxicological test using samples from Alexei Navalny and came to the conclusion that the Russian politician was poisoned with a substance of neuro-paralytic agent from the Novichok group. This was stated by the Federal Government of Germany.
"There is unambiguous evidence of the presence of a chemical poisonous substance of neuro-paralytic agent from the Novichok group," the statement said.
The German government, led by Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel, discussed the poisoning of Alexei Navalny and the results of the toxicological examination today, on September 2, and then agreed on their next steps.
"The federal government strongly condemns this attack on Alexei Navalny. The Russian authorities must give an explanation to the incident," reads the message.
As we reported earlier, Russia asks Germany to provide the results of medical tests of opposition leader Alexei Navalny.
The Prosecutor General of Russia has sent a relevant request to the German side.
