NATO called the statement of the President of Belarus about the strengthening of the alliance's troops on ​​the border with this country groundless. Alliance spokesman Oana Lungescu said this in a statement, EFE reported.

"Any statement about the reinforcement of NATO forces on the border with Belarus is unfounded," Lungescu said.

She emphasized that NATO does not pose any threat to Belarus or any other country, and that the alliance did not conduct any accumulation of troops in the region.

“We are strictly defensive,” said a spokeswoman for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

At the same time, she added that NATO remains "vigilant, ready to deter any aggression" and to protect its allies.

In addition, the spokesman for the Alliance called on Minsk to "fully respect" human rights in Belarus.
