NATO fighter F-16 approaches Russian Defense Minister’s plane

NATO fighter aircraft F-16 tried to approach the plane with Russia’s Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu on board. This was reported by the Russian news agency TASS.

"NATO aircraft tried to escort the plane of the Russian Defense Minister over the neutral waters of the Baltic Sea, when he was traveling to Kaliningrad. The airplane in which Russian Defense Minister was flying was accompanied by an escort of Sukhoi Su-27 (Flanker) naval fighters," the message said.

The incident occurred during the flight over neutral waters of the Baltic Sea. Su-27 which accompanied Shoygu’s plane appeared on the way of NATO’s fighter. Su-27 fighter "demonstrated armament" having swung the wings. After that, the F-16 fighter went to the side.

Earlier it Russia announced June 20 about the "provocative turn" of US planes over the Baltics. Russian fighter Su-27 intercepted two reconnaissance aircraft RC-135 over neutral waters of the Baltic Sea.

Earlier it was reported that NATO battalions deployed in Eastern Europe, according to Stoltenberg. Over 4,000 servicemen have been stationed in Poland and the Baltic States.
