The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) announced the startup of the program of the special space probe to research the corona. The aim of the mission Solar Probe Plus is to gather the data of solar activity that will help to predict the solar bursts and geomagnetic storms. The space probe will fly up to the sun at distance 7 million of kilometers.
‘Solar Probe is the fastest and hot issue ever. I call it the coolest project under the sun. We will face the extreme temperature and solar corona. We will be able to get the vitally important information that will enable us to understand how Earth reacts to the Sun. The space probe will closely fly up to our star and help us to predict the space weather’, Nicola Fox, the deputy scientist of the Solar Probe Plus project.
The craft will face the temperature more than 1370 C. It will work in the terms of the strongest radiation and under pressure of the small supersonic particles. The mission will start in August 2018.
