The National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) holds searches at the PJSC Agrarian Fund of Ukraine in the case involving theft by the company's leaders of around 20 million dollars during the purchase of fertilizers. Artem Sytnyk, the Director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, reported this, broadcasted by 112 Ukraine.
“The case touches upon the possible theft of approximately 20 million dollars during the purchase of fertilizers. You probably know who can be involved in this. Those people are the billionaires, well there is one, in particular, such a billionaire, who has the right to express his position on some TV-channels. Regarding the searches, we actually did not plan to do them, because we hold searches only in urgent cases when someone poses the destructive threat to pieces of evidence or resists their transmission to NABU”, - Sytnyk said.
The Director of NABU pointed out that the court granted interim permission to examine the documents of the Agrarian Fund. The representatives of the Agrarian Fund, however, provided another document, which proved as if the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine had seized those documents already.
“The results of the search proved it was a lie. When they refused to abide by the decision of the court, which granted interim permission to their documents, we decided to hold the authorized search, as a result of which a bunch of documents was seized. The representatives demanded the documents were outlined properly, the law demands this as well. The search has been ongoing for a couple of days and only now is going to end due to the great number of documents”, - Sytnyk added.
As we reported earlier, NABU detectives carry out searches at PJSC Agrarian Fund on February 7-8. Investigative action is authorized and takes place within the framework of a pre-trial investigation in a criminal proceeding on the fact that officials of PJSC Agrarian Fund have misused more than around 9 million dollars on the purchase, storage and packaging of fertilizers in 2017-2018.
However, Agrarian Fund officials refused to comply with the court's decision and did not provide documents, therefore, to conduct an objective and comprehensive investigation, detectives have to seize them forcefully.
