Dead fish in Sea of Azov

State inspectors of Azov fish care patrol detected huge murrain of toad gobies in the Sea of Azov, near Kulykivske village, not far from the town of Berdyansk. The local outlet Berdyansk24 reported that on Tuesday.

The estimated number of casualties makes some 467,000 species. The local fish management entity took damage in the amount of 3.23 million U.S. dollars.

The materials will be handed over to law enforcers for further actions.

The local department of State Agency for Fish Management asks fishermen to adhere by the rules of fishing and to show responsibility in order to avoid environmental disaster in the region.

With each passing year, the amount of fish in the Azov Sea grows smaller. Especially, the population of Azov gobiidae decreases as reported.

“Not only gobiidae disappears in the Sea of Azov, but zander, common bream, roach, and other species,” the message said.

A few reasons were announced.

First of all, global warming causes an increase in the degree of salinity of the sea water and it provokes the filling of main freshwater through-passages of the Azov Sea.
