Councilman and Mayor’s advisor Serhiy Samarsky who was killed in Severodonetsk on Thursday night, was on his way home not long before the murder; his wife was the last person he spoke to.

‘I’ve got the word about Serhiy’s murder on 1.30 a.m. Friday. The bastards slaughtered him, like he was an animal. I worked with the investigation team until 4 a.m.; I offered anyone potentially involved in the crime to pass the lie-detector test.’ Samarsky’s chief, Mayor Hryhoriy Prygeba posted this on Facebook.

According to vistilug.ua news portal, Samarsky’s body was found in the residential district of Severodnoetsk. The search commenced after the councilman’s wife called the police, because she couldn’t have contacted him for a long time. Samarsky called her at about 6 p.m. Thursday, as he left the building of the town council.

According to Yuriy Harbuz, the head of Luhansk regional civil and military administration, Serhiy Samarsky was on his way home; later, he was going to speak on the air of local TV channel.

Teyana Pohukay, the spokeswoman of the National Police in Luhansk region reported that Samarsky’s death was, most likely, intentional, as he suffered a blunt-force trauma to the head.

‘Currently, we cannot be 100 percent sure about the actual cause of death; the forensics perform thanatopsy, and only after it’s done, we’ll find it out. The police looks into the case, defining it as an intentional homicide,’ she said.

Serhiy Samarsky was 55. He served as an MP from pro-presidential Petro Poroshenko’s Bloc and the member of Severodonetsk town council.
