MPs want to create a special body that would deal with the repatriation (return) of Ukrainians to their homeland. Member of the ‘Servant of the People’ party Svyatoslav Yurash, chairman of the subcommittee on communications and protection of the rights and interests of Ukrainians abroad, spoke about this in a special project of Hromadske media agency.
He clarified that he has "long-term and good interaction" with key structures of the Ukrainian diaspora, as with the World Congress of Ukrainians.
“We talked a lot about various options for improving state interaction with the diaspora. We have an idea to create some kind of body for repatriating Ukrainians,” Yurash stated.
According to him, Israel, Ireland, Romania, Albania, and other countries of the world are actively working to bring the Diaspora back to their homeland. He says that for this they embody various economic, social, and cultural programs.
"It is clear to me that Ukraine has at least 20 million Ukrainians around the world, and we need to do something to make these potential citizens a part of our body," Yurash added.
