More than 400 people got measles in Ukraine last week

439 cases of the getting of measles were spotted in Ukraine during last week as the Health Ministry of Ukraine reported.

“439 people, including 203 adults and 236 children sickened with measles during 36th week of 2018. The incidence during the last week remains to be at the level of the previous one,” the message said.

It is noted that 30,744 persons were sickened with measles since the beginning of 2018

The majority of cases were spotted in Lviv region (6,002 persons: 1891 adults, 4111 children), Zakarpattia region (3,046 persons), Ivano-Frankivsk region (2,808 persons), Odesa region (2,400 persons), Kyiv (2,151 persons) and Ternopil region (1,645 persons).

As we reported there is no epidemic of the measles in Ukraine but the occasional outbreaks are observed.

Earlier Moldova imposed the “orange” threat level on the results of the session of the national emergency commission for public health. It is noted that the most of the cases were spotted in the southern regions of Moldova.

Also, the European Health Security Agency reported that Ukraine was the third in Europe on the number of people infected with measles in 2017. The leaders are Romania and Italy.
