In Ukraine there are more than 35 thousand people who do not have citizenship or who risk losing it. This is stated in the report of the United Nations Agency for Refugees.
It is noted that in our country the problems with citizenship are concerned mainly representatives of national minorities.
"Statelessness often exacerbates the isolation that minorities face, and profoundly influences all aspects of their lives: from freedom of movement to development opportunities, access to services and to the right to vote," the report said.
The document notes that according to the population census in 2001, 82 thousand people did not have citizenship in Ukraine.
In total, according to the UN, there are more than 10 million people without citizenship in the world.
