More than 30 militarymen took part in the March of Equality, which was held today in Kyiv. The March participant, volunteer of the Donbas battalion Viktor Pylypenko said this.
The organizers of the rally invited the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to attend the event.
Leader of the Holos party, Svyatoslav Vakarchuk also supported the event.
“We have a country of equal rights and equal opportunities,” he said on Ukraina TV channel.
"The column was fairly quiet, the procession ended. Its participants went into the subway, which is located in the perimeter under police protection. Now people are going home," said the correspondent, noting that March lasted about an hour.
From the very beginning of the event, the police literally fenced the whole center of the city - it was impassable. In addition, the column was accompanied by dog handlers. According to the correspondent, the sound of an explosion was heard during the procession, probably from a big firecracker.
“Now the main task of the police is to keep the order and not to let provocateurs around the perimeter get inside,” the journalist added.
As is known, opponents of the March also gathered in the center of the capital. There are about 500 people. They are protesting not for the first day: first they tried to ensure that the march was canceled altogether, but on the eve they decided to block part of the streets so that the march participants could not walk along them.
"Mostly they are aggressive, we have heard a lot of obscene language towards the participants of the march. They say they do not call for violence, they support the traditional family and against the propaganda of homosexuality, especially when it comes to young children. Some of the protesters have already dispersed," the correspondent stated.
