'On May 8 on the occasion of Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation, it is planned to hold about 500 official events in all regions of Ukraine. It is expected that almost 85, 000 people will participate in them. More than 3,500 police officers and the officers of National Guard of Ukraine will provide the safety of people', Trakalo noted.
He added that on May 9, it is planned to hold about 1, 500 events and about 390, 000 people will participate in them. More than 20, 500 police and National Guard officers will ensure the order.
Earlier Serhy Kniazev, the Head of National Police claimed that the police predicts tense situation in Kyiv and other regions on May 9. Due to this, police strengthens the service regime on these days.
On May 8, Ukraine celebrates Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation dedicated to the people deceased in the WWII during 1939-1945. The date is dedicated to the anniversary of the capitulation of Nazi Germany on May 8, 1945.
