More than 122,000 road accidents took place in Ukraine from the beginning of 2018. Oleksandr Fatsevych, the Head of the Patrol Police of Ukraine made such statement during the launch of the 'ghost bus' as the press service of the National Police reported.
'Unfortunately, from the beginning of this year, more than 122,000 road accidents took place. Victims were reported in almost 20,000 cases. However, in comparison with the previous year, the number of accidents decreased by 10%; this issue is still of the high priority for the prevention by the police as we talk about the lives and health of people,' Fatsevych noted.
According to him, from the beginning of the year, the police spotted roughly 800,000 facts of speeding and 94,500 facts of the driving in the state of alcohol or drug intoxication.
Reportedly, since October 8, the Ukrainian police have been monitoring the road traffic in Kyiv and in many regions across the country, using the TruCam surveillance systems.
The TruCam devices were set next to the road signs warning of photo and video recording of safety violations, on the certain sections of international highways and in the cities where the high level of road accident hazard is observed. Service transport vehicles with blue flash beacons will be there, too.
