Monument to Belarusians who perished for Ukraine opened in Kyiv

The cross-shaped monument features white and red colors, those of the national flag of Belarus, with the national emblem of Belarusian lands in the center (     

The memorial is dedicated to the memory of three Belarusian citizens who stood up for Ukraine during the Euromaidan protests and the Donbas conflict. Mykhailo Zhyznevsky was shot dead by a sniper during street riots in Kyiv on January 22, 2014. Ales Cherkashyn and Vitaliy Tilizhenko were the volunteers of tactical group Belarus, a paramilitary unit that sided with Ukrainian troops during Donbas conflict; both died during the battle of Starohnativka in August 2015.
