The Ministry of Health has decided to start temperature screening at Ukrainian border posts where passengers from Italy arrive. Deputy Minister of Health Viktor Lyashko said this during a briefing in Kyiv.
“We are ready to receive patients with coronavirus and provide them with quality medical care. Today we have about 12,000 beds in infectious hospitals, about 2,000 doctors and about 5,000 paramedical personnel. We also have infectious boxes with the understanding that they are used only at the initial stages of an outbreak or an epidemic. In the future, the use and maintenance of patients in infectious boxes are inappropriate, for this, other departments of healthcare institutions will be reprofiled medical assistance is provided as usual," the official noted.
According to him, infectious resuscitation departments are equipped with devices for artificial ventilation of the lungs, since there is no specific therapy for coronavirus-infected.
“Today, Ukraine has an opportunity and ability to provide medical care in intensive care units and resuscitation departments,” - Viktor Lyashko said
As we reported before, the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine knows about 15,632 citizens of Ukraine registered in Italy as of January 1, 2020. 9,158 of them are registered in Milan consulate. None of them is infected with coronavirus
