The Ministry of Culture of Ukraine intends to seek sanctions against Crimean museum workers for the transfer of paintings to Russia. This is stated in the response of the press service of the Ukrainian Ministry to the information request of "Crimea. Realii."
"The use of museum items of the state part of the Museum Fund of Ukraine, stored in the museum institutions of Crimea and Sevastopol, for exhibiting at exhibition projects outside Ukraine is illegal," the report said.
The ministry added that after the annexation of Crimea, communication with cultural institutions located on the territory of the peninsula was lost, but the Ministry of Culture was able to gather information about some facts of the movement of paintings from the annexed peninsula to the territory of neighboring Russia.
The Ministry of Transport reported the fact of the movement of 38 paintings from the collection of the National Picture Gallery in 2016 from the Crimea to Russia.
We recall, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko called on the international community to strenghten sanctions against Russia because of the presidential elections in Crimea.
