A rockslide killed a mountaineer in the coal mine in Luhansk region. The tragedy took place at Novodruzheska mine on July 27. Local prosecutor's office reported that on Tuesday.

"The slide of a concrete bay occurred at about 3.50 p.m. on July 27, 2020, as workers cleared the rocks, resulting in the deadly injuries for a pitman", reads the message.

The law enforcers intiaited an investigation into the accident. Forensic expertise will help indicate the most likely reason why the tragedy took place.

Earlier, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine additionally allocated almost 340 million UAH (12,7 million dollars) to repay debts to miners of state-owned mines. Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmygal has announced this at the meeting of the government.

"This means that for the first time in a long time the state has no debts to the miners of state-owned mines in the current mode,” the head of government said,

He also added that "debts have been repaid to almost 40,000 workers who work extremely hard every day."
