Arne Gericke, Nathan Gill and Robert Iwaszkiewicz, the lawmakers of the European Parliament arrived in Kyiv and visited 112 Ukraine TV channel's office. The officials came to Ukraine to once again reassure the staff and the management of this medium of their support.
The MEPs promised to follow the actions of the Ukrainian government in terms of protecting the media freedom in this country. They reiterated that the pressure on 112 Ukraine and NewsOne TV channels is unacceptable.
Last week, the petition urging to support 112 Ukraine and NewsOne TV channels claimed over 25,000 votes. The President of Ukraine is supposed to react now, which 112 Ukraine's management expects any time now.
'It's not the first time that we host European MPs on the premises of our TV channel - those who support our views in struggling for the right to broadcast. They tell their colleagues in the European Parliament about us, and now this situation turned a lot of attention in Europe. So we don't have the right to give up, all the more so more than 25,000 signatures under the petition to protect 112 Ukraine and NewsOne TV channels prove that our audience stands for the freedom of speech in Ukraine; they will not let the government do any arbitrary treatment against the favorite TV channels', said Artem Marchevsky, General Producer of 112 Ukraine TV channel.
