A man damaged the memorial to Heavenly Hundred Hero Serhiy Nigoyan on June 23. The law enforcers detained the suspect and took him to the mental hospital, as Ukrainian News reported citing Kyiv National Police Spokesperson Yana Nerush.
“This event took place in the evening of Sunday, about 8 p.m. A man, who was in poor condition, damaged this memorial, particularly, scattered the flowers… He was detained by the police officers of special forces.
A detainee was taken to the psycho-neurological hospital for the examination for the adequacy.
“The decision of the doctors on the adequacy of a man is expected as well as the decision on the possibility to open the criminal proceeding and announce the suspicion against the detainee”, the police said.
Earlier police detained a group of provocateurs during the Equality March in Kyiv. They planned to carry excreta packaged in condoms to the event and throw them at the Kyiv Pride 2019 participants and law enforcement officers.
